Blast from the past
The Vilniaus 39th gets some self-propelled artillery from the 31st Millennium
A quick update this week. Finally, finally, the Vilniaus 39th has some indirect fire capability. Ok, technically that’s a lie - I do have a Field Ordinance Battery… but let’s focus on my historic lack of heavy artillery, considering the Astra Militarum gets the best indirect fire in the game.
I look forward to using this Basilisk (borrowed from the Solar Auxilia’s Horus Heresy range), to finally give me some way of dealing with nuisance enemy units hiding out of line of sight on objectives. I’m also looking forward to being able to slow down enemy units, too, with its special ability!
Here’s a few pics:

Overall a lovely kit. Lots of parts, and the overall look is - I think at least - superior to the ageing Warhammer 40k Basilisk kit, with it’s huge gun shield. The Solar Auxilia kit has quite a few delighters, too, including full modelling of the interior, including a couple of troopers to load the gun. Very neat! I’ll be saving them for something else I am sure…
I’ll probably make one or two final tweaks to it this week if I get time - for example, adding the Lithuanian flag in some way - perhaps similar to how I do it with the Rogal Dorn. Apart from that, my focus goes to completing the first infantry unit from the Solar Auxilia army box - I think I’ll proxy them as Death Korps of Krieg, so a few more special weapons will need converting!
As always, thanks for reading, look out for another battle report in the next week or so.
