Finally, a tank platoon!
The Vilniaus 39th gains an additional Leman Russ, and much-needed upgrades
Since I’ve moved not just house, but country, it’s been pretty hectic. Still, I’ve managed to get some decent hobby work done at least, even if that didn’t include any games, unfortunately!
With the move etc, I was short of time, so I focussed on not just a new unit - I’ve wanted to have a third Leman Russ for a long time - but also a multitude of little fixes and upgrades. Over the past few months a few models got damaged during gaming and transport, and I’ve also fallen into proxying a few weapons - in particular for my tanks - and I prefer to be able to game WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).
First, let’s talk tanks!
Here’s my latest armoured behemoth for the Vilniaus 39th - a Leman Russ Exterminator. This is my first tank with a dozer blade, too. I’m wondering whether I can do anything more to it for visual interest. But for now, I am content.
I also did a few upgrades to my other Leman Russes. I now have a Demolisher cannon, which means I can now field a true WYSIWYG Tank Commander in a Demolisher, with Multimelta sponsons and hull-mounted Lascannon for some truly destructive firepower. I also added an antenna to the turret to make it clear this is a command vehicle. And of course, it’s commanded by a very awesome but now defunct model of Knight Commander Pask…
This means I no longer have to use my Punisher and Heavy Bolters equipped Leman Russ as other variants. Huzzah!
I also did a couple of other changes, like adding a tank commander to the turret of my existing Leman Russ Battle Tank. This means I no longer have a Leman Russ with a a random open hatch and no crewman there.
Here’s the platoon in all its glory:
Finally, a platoon of Leman Russes!
But that’s not all. I’ve been quite productive. As mentioned, I also fixed a few other issues which were on the backlog for a while:
Yes, I track it in Jira. If it’s not on a list somewhere, it won't get fixed.
So what’s next for the Vilniaus 39th? I have a Solar Auxila Battlegroup on the way, that will include a Leman Russ - certainly a candidate for a very ornate second Tank Commander - along with 25 infantry, a heavy sentinel, and a brilliant-looking Dracosan armoured transport that doesn’t have 40k rules (yet…). I’m not committed to trying out 30k, but for sure I want to see how I can use them in my 40k army perhaps - perhaps Scions? Or just some other regiment.
In the meantime, I have a couple of other things I can plug away at. I’d like to finally get my Warhammer+ Vindicare Assassin finished up, for example… oh wait, sorry. That’s [REDACTED]!
Thanks for reading as always, and I should be - fingers-crossed - getting a game in soon at a nearby club! Be sure to click the button below if you want to follow along the journey of the Vilniaus 39th Astra Militarum regiment.
I’ve never heard of Jira.
Is that an app or a web page?
Using Jira to track hobby projects is neat.
