This time it’s my first time ever playing against the Orks. Also, while technically Lord Solar fought in the previous battle against the Thousand Sons…this time he was completely painted!
Lord Solar Leontus, donning the proud blood red armour and beige fatigues of the Vilniaus 39th.
Overall it was a victory for the Vilniaus 39th. Effective firepower combined with the mobility of the forces and leadership of Lord Solar won the day despite some very early setbacks on turn one including teleporting mobs of Orks…
Here’s the report submitted by Lt Spade…
After Action Report: Operation Purge the Foe
Summary Info:
Unit: Vilniaus 39th Astra Militarum Regiment

Objective: Engage and neutralize enemy forces on all fronts. Priority directive: Assassinate enemy high-value targets.
Forces Deployed:

Rogal Dorn heavy tank "The Leviathan."
Leman Russ Battle Tank, under the steadfast command of Sgt Tread.

Enemy Composition:
A towering Ork Warboss backed by a hardened squad of Nobz.
Weirdboy psyker leading a formidable mob of 20 Shoota Boyz.
A minor but tenacious force of 10 Gretchin under the surveillance of a Runtherd.
A squad of swift Warbikers.
The aerial menace of a Blitza-bommer.
A Boomdakka Snazzwagon.
The imposing mechanical beast, a Deff Dread.
Operational Summary:
Our regiment, resolute in purpose, strategically positioned our infantry at the center, bordered by our tanks, ready for the Orkish onslaught. The Mordian Iron Guard on the left, with the nimble Scout Sentinel, spearheaded our formation, scouting enemy targets. As the Orkish engines roared and the war cries grew louder, we saw them – the green tide.
The Vilniaus 39th arrays for battle.
Our Leman Russ, precise as ever, eradicated two Warbikers instantly at it sighted them advancing rapidly on the left flank. The Ork Nobz and their infernal Deff Dread began their march on the right.
But calamity befell us; with an unnatural psychic surge, a Weirdboy and his retinue emerged behind our ranks, taking a brutal toll as they opened fire and charged.
The infantry platoon suffered under a brutal unslaught, leaving them no choice but to conduct a tactical withdrawal towards the tanks.
Yet, the Vilniaus 39th are not easily cowed. As the infantry tactically retreated, our Chimera, supported by the Leman Russ, obliterated the Warbikers and the Snazzwagon.
Central to our defense, the Rogal Dorn unleashed devastation upon the enemy, while Sgt Walker's Sentinel descended upon the unsuspecting Gretchin.
The Leviathan turns it’s attention to the Shoota Boyz, cutting many down.
Sgt Walker revved his chainsaw and got to work… shortly before the Chimera arrived and burned the rest with it’s two heavy flamers.
As the battle raged on, the Mordian Iron Guard disembarked and the remaining Orkish forces renewed their assault. But even as the Weirdboy felled our commander, Lord Solar avenged him, ending the psyker's menace in single combat.
The combined might of our armored divisions thwarted the Deff Dread and weakened the Nobz, leading to our final stand. As the Nobz charged toward the Rogal Dorn, the Blitza-bommer swooped down in a daring dive-bombing attack on the tank. Fortuitously, the attack was ineffective, and with the combined firepower of our tanks, the aerial foe was compelled to retreat.
Shortly after defeating the Weirdboy, Lord Solar sets his sights on the enemy Warboss.
With unmatched valor, Lord Solar himself vanquished the Warboss. The enemy's morale shattered, sealing our victory.
Casualties:
Significant losses within the Cadian Shock Troops due to the surprise psychic attack.
Company commander mortally wounded by the Weirdboy.
Recommendations:
Incorporate additional anti-psyker defense measures in future deployments against psyker-capable enemies - a Primaris Psyker would have provided ample protection.
Prioritize reconnaissance to pre-empt unexpected enemy movements.
Encourage cross-training between armored and infantry units to enhance cooperative offensive operations.
Conclusion: The Vilniaus 39th, with audacity and grit, emerged victorious, fulfilling the mission mandate of Purge the Foe. We mourn our losses, but honor them by celebrating this triumph. The Orkish menace was met with unyielding Astra Militarum might and determination, and we stand ready to face the next challenge, ever in service to the Emperor.
I’ve also been playing around more with OpenAI creating narratives with the above detail. I really like the results, for example the following from the perspective of the Company Commander who was, in fact, not quite killed (definitely some plot armour there)!
Amidst the roar of Orkish engines, I stood resolute with the Vilniaus 39th. As the Nobz charged our Rogal Dorn, a shadow swooped low — the Blitza-bommer's dive was fierce, but our retaliation sent it fleeing. Suddenly, a surge of psychic energy; the treacherous Weirdboy's ambush took many of my men. Amidst the chaos, the psyker's power struck me down. Yet, as darkness encroached, a final sight heartened me: Lord Solar, our beacon of hope, vanquishing the Warboss. I fell knowing the 39th's spirit remained unbroken; our legacy, immortal.
And that’s it for this week’s post. Another milestone having Lord Solar himself amalgamated into the glorious Vilniaus 39th and actually painted.
