Hobby: Another Cadian Command Squad, and a challenge
Clearing the backlog before 10th Edition lands
Hot off the press parade ground, here’s the latest addition to the Vilniaus 39th - my second Cadian Command Squad! I deviated with this one a bit more from the box art, creating some more dynamism in the poses, and differentiating it from the first squad. Here are some pics.
Firstly, on the officer - Lieutenant Bleu - I like the smallish trend I’m setting where blue/turquoise becomes a bit of a spot colour, and a nice way to point out different models (eg characters, special weapons, equipment, etc).
And here’s a veteran with a ‘nade launcher. I like the vibrant hair, and this was my first time using a bronze (originally bought for another secretive model on my backlog) on the grenade belt.
Grenade launchers are shaping up to be pretty effective in 10th Edition, so it makes sense to give them a go…!
Next up, some other members… I really like how the surgical PPE turned out for this medic.
And last but not least, the standard…
This colour sergeant has a different colour to the last command squad, this colour scheme represents the Flag of Vilnius, instead of the flag of Lithuania.

Overall I’m pretty happy with the results. The goal here is ‘battle ready’ instead of perfection. There are a few bits like some thick priming that I’ll have to learn from (don’t squint too much at the back of the colour-sergeant…).
What’s next?
Next… a little challenge
With Warhammer 40,000 10th edition just around the corner - the Leviathan box set launching on 24th of June - I’m looking at my remaining Astra Militarum backlog and realising I could undoubtedly set myself a little challenge. Let’s get the rest of it done!
Now that this last Command Squad is done, here’s my remaining backlog:
Sentinel - basecoats are done, so probably about 60-70% of the way there. Building this as an armoured sentinel will be faster than as a scout sentinel (which involves painting the pilot, and roll-cage).
Field Ordinance Battery - not started, still on sprue.
With 12 days remaining, I cannot think of anything better than to see if I can get the final few miniatures from my two Cadia Stands sets done and dusted. Let’s get to it!
