Hobby: Major milestone achieved. Also, a Rogal Dorn!
After 7+ months, the second Cadia Stands! set has been completed
Big milestone time! After quite a few months, I have finally finished the second of my two Cadia Stands! army sets. The story of how this came to pass is typically British. I bought one, and it was delayed in the post, so I bought another from my nearest Warhammer shop, intending (of course) to return the other if/when it arrived. Of course, you know how that turned out.
So there I was, with a backlog of 50 infantry, 2 Sentinels, and 4 Field Ordinance Guns. Thank god for contrast paints.
And here we are, a little over 7 months later, with this all completed, and more. In total since then I’ve painted:
2 Command Squads
4 Cadian Shock Trooper Squads
2 Sentinels
2 Field Ordinance Batteries (comprising 2 guns each)
I also did a bit more to round out the Vilniaus 39th, including:
1 Chimera transport
1 Commissar
And… *drum roll begins*

The Rogal Dorn has been a joy to put together and paint. As it’s a centre piece, I’ve certainly put in a bit more effort to really give it some character. I love how the kit comes with a smorgasbord of options for stowage, and the dude with the heavy stubber on the back is a great vibe.
I will 100% still tinker with this model. I have a bit more stowage and equipment to put on, and I think I might even add some Agrax Earthshade to every… single… rivet. But it will be worth it!
So, what’s next? A second Rogal Dorn or a Baneblade. I’m eyeing up a few options for units - in particular some tracked artillery like a Manticore or maybe Attilan Rough Riders - but also want to experiment with some different characters and HQ choices, and paint up a couple of more classic miniatures I own.
Next on my list are:
2 classic metal Tallern officers (they are almost as old as I am!). These guys will be used as Castellans, or advisers. I haven’t used Castellan’s just yet, and I only just noticed their ability to provide Sustained Hits and allow their unit to shoot after falling back - time for an experiment…
Lord Castellan Ursula Creed - who can say no to an officer with a special rule called ‘Tactical Genius’?
Primaris Psyker - I’m particular interested in her ability to provide a 4+ invulnerable save against shooting attacks, and extra protection against psykers.
Operative Umbral-six, the Vindicare assassin I got as part of my Warhammer+ subscription. I probably won’t use this model in a game, if you don’t know… you’ll realise then I paint it… (it’s very tall!)
