(Walking) back to the future
A walker from the Solar Auxilia of the 31st millennium joins the Vilniaus 39th
Some more progress this week - I’ve broken ground on the first of the Solar Auxilia Battlegroup!
After seeing the gorgeous plastic of Solar Auxilia being revealed earlier in the year - part of the Horus Heresy game set in the 31st millennium (ie, 30k instead of 40k) - I decided I had to get these models.
I doubted I’d have the time to invest properly in another game system, so decided - for now at least - I’d proxy these as units in 40k. Thankfully, almost everything in the Solar Auxilia Battlegroup can be proxied as something in the Astra Militarum.
And the Aethon Heavy Sentinel? Why, it’s clearly able to be designated as a Scout or Armoured Sentinel. It’s just a slightly older model with a bunch more brassy bits.
Here’s the finished product:

There’s a lot of opportunity for details on this model! I stayed loyal to the box art in terms of which bits are brass, metal, or other colours, and the effect worked well.
Here’s the video I followed from Games Workshop:
That’s it for this update. My next two weeks are a little busy as I’ll be travelling to the US for work, but I should get a battle report out at least - hopefully featuring this model! Thanks for reading!
